In this week’s episode, Chris and Martin talk to Paul Speciale (Chief Product Officer at Scality) and Chris Tinker (Distinguished Technologist with HPE) about the launch of ARTESCA, a new lightweight, cloud-native object storage solution. HPE and Scality have announced the product jointly, delivering the solution on HPE hardware with an exclusive distribution agreement for 6 months. We get the detail on why ARTESCA is different to RING and the types of workload Scality is aiming to support.
Since the launch of Scality and RING a decade ago, a lot has changed in technology and the industry. Physical media is 10x the capacity and solid-state media is affordable at scale.
Customers are looking for new solutions that can be deployed in cloud and edge scenarios, with much lower capacity entry points, but with greater I/O capabilities. ARTESCA is the culmination of previous work on S3 Server and Zenko that addresses the needs of modern unstructured data solutions.
HPE has an exclusive 6-month agreement to distribute ARTESCA on HPE server hardware. This introduces a range of new options, including all-flash and NVMe.
